In Taika Waititi's Oscar-winning film, a young German boy in the Hitler Youth whose hero and imaginary friend is the country's dictator is shocked to discover that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home.
After teaming up with Waititi on Thor: Ragnarok, Luma was thrilled to collaborate with the Director once again on this imaginative film to create invisible effects that helped bring his vision to life. Luma's Los Angeles and Melbourne teams were tasked with taking scenes filmed on the streets of present-day Czech Republic and recreating them so that they felt historically appropriate for World War II Germany. This included replacing contemporary buildings with period accurate ones, set extensions, and explosions during the combat scenes.
