The Australian Academy of Cinema Television Arts announced today the nominees for the 2019 annual awards and Luma is proud to receive a nomination for Best Visual Effects for our work on Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Luma’s work includes the Molten Man Battle sequence in which Spider-Man and Mysterio team up to fight against the threatening and ever-growing fiery elemental. We partnered with Marvel early on to design and develop the Molten Man character and sequencing of the battle. Our team was responsible for augmenting and replacing the extensive Prague environment, digitally replacing the Spider-Man Stealth Suit in the majority of the sequence, and developing challenging FX simulations for 90% of the shots. Our collaboration spanned creative development, R&D, tech-vis, and post-vis to final execution for this action-packed sequence.

The winners of the Best Visual Effects Award will be announced at the AACTA Industry Luncheon on Dec 2nd.  Congrats to all the nominees this year!
